SKILLS Talk – Episode 8 “THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT THE FOOT SPA”

In this episode, our Senior Barber @barber.mo along with our Nail Technician Ms. Dianne talks about the Foot Spa and why it’s important. Ms. Dianne spoke about 3 important benefits that you should know about doing your foot spa.

The first thing is you will have your feet more clean and neat because of the nail care process, and things that you don’t usually do when you do it by yourself like filing and cutting the cuticle.

She stressed that some factors that affect the bad smell on your foot are because of bacteria and germs through sweat that sticks on your sock or shoes, so that is why it is a must to do your foot spa if you are suffering from this problem.

The Main Benefit of Doing your Foot Spa is it revitalizes your feet.

The second thing is the foot scrubbing, which will result in removing the callouses and making your sole softer and cleaner. Calluses can cause significant discomfort in your feet, so preventing the growth of calluses will also prevent pain. Additionally, dry, cracked feet can be extremely painful, so regularly moisturizing the skin on your feet will prevent this type of discomfort from developing as well.

Foot scrubbing removes all the dead skin cells and callouses.

The third benefit is the reflexology massage which reduced stress and anxiety, provides comfort and relaxation at the same time you will have a proper blood circulation all throughout your body. The thing about the reflexology massage is you can touch internal organs by just touching the sole of your foot.

Moving on to the tips and advice for your nail care.

You should always have your own personal toolkit (Especially during this time).
Eat foods rich in Biotin as it plays an important role in the health of your nails.
Cut your nails regularly and don’t let it go too long to prevent any accumulation of germs.

Different types of Relaxers and chemicals used in the Hair Straightening/ Relaxing Treatment Process

The Hair Straightening/Relaxing Treatment is a type of treatment that uses chemicals such as Sodium, Lithium, and Guanidine Hydroxide to straighten your hair. The chemical components have pretty mild effects on the hair but it is very severe on the scalp.

The process of the Hair Straightening/ Relaxing Treatment is it reduces the curl by breaking down the hair strand and reforming the hair’s components by chemicals which softens very tight or kinky curls. The risk of doing the Hair Straightening is if done the wrong way could damage your scalp or burn your hair.

Applying the Hair Relaxer

The benefits of having the Hair Straightening Treatment is it makes the hair more manageable, making it straighter, and saves you a lot of time in styling your hair as well as using the blow-dry and using less hair product.

If you are planning or interested to do your Hair Straightening Treatment in the future make sure to do the following tips and advice for your safety.

Doing the Hair Consultation is Very Important before you do any Hair Treatment/Coloring Procedure

Find a professional who has a good background in doing the Hair Straightening/ Relaxing Treatment.

Inform your stylist about all your past history in the last few months and if you did any hair straightening/relaxing as this could affect the results during the process.
Make sure to follow the advice of your stylist after doing the Hair Straightening/ Relaxing Treatment in order to prolong d maintain the effects of the Treatment.
Make sure to only use the home care products advised by the stylist for your hair maintenance

It is advisable to have the Keratin Hair Treatment done after the Hair Straightening Treatment so that you can treat your hair and give it a much healthier and straighter look, as well as combining both treatments can lengthen the duration of the treatment. As normally the Keratin lasts for 2-3 months and the Straightening lasts 6-8 weeks.

In this episode our Senior Barber @barber.mo talks about the common misconception of the Keratin Hair Treatment, what is the Keratin Treatment? and does it really straighten the Hair? Let’s find out!

Keratin Protein found in Hair Strands, skin and in our Nails

Keratin is a natural type of protein found in your skin, hair, and nails. This protein forms fibers that make it strong. It acts as an external protective and internal structural protein to protect your hair and keep them healthy.

Due to exposure to external factors like the sun (Most especially here in the Middle East), chemicals from your styling products, or changes in your lifestyle, the keratin which is present in the hair gets depleted. This loss is the result that leads to dry, damaged, and dull hair.

Unhealthy and Damaged Hair

As mentioned above, The Keratin Hair Treatment doesn’t have the purpose of having your hair straight. The reason why you think like that is because of the process of doing the Keratin as it involves using the blow-dry to remove the moisture and the main reason is the flat-iron that helps seal the solution upon application.

Applying the Keratin Treatment and then Iron-ing it to seal the solution.

The benefits of having the Keratin Hair Treatment is it makes the hair more manageable, making it look healthier, it saves you a lot of time in styling your hair as well as using the blow-dry and using less hair product.

In this episode of SKILLS Talk, our Senior Barber @barber.mo talks about the struggle and fear of the people regarding the bleach or the bleaching process to achieve the platinum hair color or any color.

Normal Hair Color Before the Bleaching Process

The negative consequences of doing the Hair bleach are all solely based on the professional or stylist doing the service as it is a chemical treatment. And if there are any miscalculations with the chemical or left too long on your scalp/hair then that is where the risk of the damage happens.

Bleaching is a Chemical Process and should always be done by a professional.

The benefits of reaching the highest tone level are that you can change your hair color as often as you like and as long as it is applicable. You can go from Blonde to Platinum to Ash Brown, etc. in just 5 mins, you can match it with your suit, watch or shoes, and if you get bored with it, still it only takes 5 mins to go back to the way it is.

After Bleaching and Reaching the Highest Tone Color

If you are planning or interested to do your hair bleaching in the future make sure to do the following tips and advice for your safety.

1. Find a professional who has a good background in doing bleach or highlights.

2. Make sure to do a consultation first if your scalp or hair is capable of the bleach.

3. Inform your stylist about all your past history in the last few months and if you did any hair coloring as this could affect the results during the process.

4. Severe Scalp Irritation, Burning, or Scarring is very rare unless the person is unqualified to do the bleaching if so, it would be best to stop the process to avoid any more damage to your hair and scalp.

5. Make sure to follow the advice of your stylist after doing the Bleach in order to prolong the hair color and maintain your hair texture.
